Burns Night Celebration Essex Millennium Lodge No 9729
by Gerald Chevin PPGSwdB PPGReg (RA) LGCR
Is it Robbie Burns or perhaps in our case Rabbi Burns?
The Essex Millennium Lodge Celebrated Burns Night in true Scottish Style with a bit of a Jewish variation!!!!!
The Master W/Bro Michael Kenner and our Initiate Bro Norman Hymos were “piped in” the ode to the Haggis was rendered in our case though, it was a Kosher Haggis!!!!!
Then we followed that with the Selkirk Grace rendered with a pseudo Scottish brogue by our Chaplain W/Bro Ronald Blaskett .
All the Brethren were then treated to a tot of whisky.
A fully resplendent kilted Simon Bond the ever attentive barman at the Chingford Masonic Centre provided suitable background music with a naturally Scottish flavour and he also sang some of the traditional songs and provided sheet music to the Brethren to sing along with.
Our guest of honour was our excellent Scottish Tyler Ray Steele who has been with us since our Consecration in 2001.
The sumptuous meal was Kosher Haggis with Tatties & Neeps, Kosher Scotch Broth, Roast Beef or Fish & Spotted Dick & Custard (not very ethnic)!!! Or Fruit Salad
By the way the Work in the temple was of the usual excellent standard that has always been associated with our Lodge.
Once again a superb and enjoyable afternoon and evening helped by lashings of whisky of course!!!!
